You know what they say about all work and no play. Facilitating fun activities furthers an enjoyable work culture. These endeavours create perfect bonding opportunities - an essential part of developing effective teams.
Engaging employees socially is one way we can help them lead better lives. Not only is it important for their mental health but it also promotes a positive attitude. Given the current circumstances, that is definitely worth investing in.
The team at AIA Insurance Sri Lanka supports our customers & employees with utmost dedication. Even amid the averse pandemic conditions, it is their first priority. But during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, it was time for them to put their hair down, and have some fun.
Our Human Resources team rose magnificently to the challenge, setting up our inaugural, virtual Avurudhu celebrations and what an event it was!
Hosted on Microsoft Teams, it was a family event. Laughter and excited chatter filled the digital space. Friendly rivalry ensued as traditional games (adapted to the virtual environment) brought out competitive spirits. The requisite Kumaraya and Kumariya were crowned in majestic fashion. Awards for jana gee, hondama hinawa, digama huuwa, and honda adima were highly contested. While the kids stole hearts, as they vied for the title of "Best Fancy Dressed".
Initiatives like this form the foundation of a positive work culture. Engaging employees socially sheds stress and re-motivates them, to deliver outstanding results. It encourages them to adapt to change and live their best lives.
Most importantly, it draws on our Sri Lankan spirit; to demonstrate that even in dark times, we must stoically pursue happiness. It gives us meaning and is the basis of healthier, longer, better lives.
